The Larchmont Basketball League is a prestigious annual basketball league in Larchmont NY founded by Matt Orchanian, Lucas Ierodiaconou, Jake Bransfield, and Davey Kaplan. The league has come a long way from when it started, as it is now a 15 game season with playoffs, a tournament in the middle of the year called the Sheldrake Classic, a website, a social media department, and has grown from a 15 person 3 team league to a 43 person 6 team league. The league begins September 12 and continues until April 17, when the playoffs begin. When we set out to make this league our goal was to create a fun and accessible basketball expererience for everyone, regardless of ability. A place to play basketball where we people could play freely sounded like a great and fun idea, giving people a chance to enjoy basketball away from the pressure of High School. While this league may be open to everyone, it is still ultra competitive. Every game in this league is a battle. Most people in this league are friends, but that makes the competition even realer. The desire to come out on top against all of your friends makes this a league of pride, and a league where everyone wants to win.
